Submit Your Booster Button Design Today!

Our Button Design Contest for the 2026 Syttende Mai booster button is now open! Each year, Syttende Mai organizers conduct a contest and select a winning design from the contest entries. The contest is open to all designers and artists. Next year’s three-day festival takes place May 15-17, 2026. The Booster Button is the festival admission ticket and gives our visitors access to everything Syttende Mai!

What makes a winning design? A strong element central to the button that reflects our Nordic Heritage. Think about what Syttende Mai in Stoughton means to you, or what you think captures the essence of our celebration. Designs may be hand drawn or computer generated (no AI) and must be in full color, round, and with a bleed around the edge. We have found that borders around the edge don’t align well in assembly of the buttons.

Keep in mind the winning design will be reduced to 2 1/4 inches. However, your submission should be larger, fitting on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

The chosen designer receives a complimentary dinner at the Syttende Mai kick-off event on Monday, May 11, 2026, two free buttons before the festival (and plenty afterwards) and recognition on our web site. We will own the use of the design.
