Stoughton Side - Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Edvard Grieg Chorus

In 2025 the Edvard Grieg Chorus proudly marked its 100th Anniversary, a remarkable milestone for one of Wisconsin’s longest-lived musical ensembles. Founded on January 26, 1925, in Madison WI. as the Grieg Mannskor (Grieg Men’s Chorus), this all-male singing group was originally one of six Scandinavian male choruses in the state—and today remains the only Norwegian men’s chorus still active in Wisconsin.

Edvard Grieg (1843–1907) stands as Norway’s most beloved composer and the definitive voice of the National Romantic movement. Throughout his life, Grieg was a tireless ambassador for Scandinavian culture, traveling across Europe as a celebrated pianist and conductor.
